The 250hp (peak at 320hp, 2700lb.ft. @ 0rpm) traction motor, powered by electricity directly generated by the generator or already stored in the batteries on the roof, drives the wheels. During braking, the motor acts as a generator to return deceleration energy to the system by recharging the batteries. Literally the hybrid bus runs on electricity generated on-board. It runs cleaner than natural gas powered bus and very fuel efficient. BAE Systems
